How to live anywhere and leave the rat race interview with Karol Gajda
What does it take to leave the rat race? Well, ask the people who have done it. So I asked Karol Gajda for an interview which he accepted.
In 17 words: The ultimate goal with RidiculouslyExtraordinary.com and my life is to help 100 people achieve Ridiculously Extraordinary Freedom
Karol has been working for himself for many years and has a very popular blog Ridiculously Extraordinary in which he uses to teach people about how to live a more minimalist lifestyle and how to live anywhere. Karol works from his laptop and lives as you can guess by his course, anywhere.
The internet has exploded and many people like yourself are now living the dream life and being able live anywhere and do anything while have the flexibility to work anywhere in the world and decide your own working hours. While a lot of people are living this life there are much more who are struggling. What advice would you give to them to create their dream life?
It helps to be clear about what your dream life looks like. I don’t mean in a vision board “The Secret” type of way. I mean, where do you live? What are you doing? What does your day look like? What are you working on? How excited are you to wake up every day?
That’s the first step. Once you’re clear about what you really want it’s much easier to reverse engineer the process to getting there.
What was the biggest lesson you learnt about a product launch?
There are tons of lessons to learn from product launches. I don’t do it perfectly every time. I’ve done product launches that have done 6 figures, but I have also done product launches that have only done 3. :) There are dozens of variables involved in a launch. I will say this: make sure your product delivers. If it delivers, then even if the launch doesn’t go well your sales will pick up.
What was the hardest thing you learnt about creating this type of lifestyle?
Working from home can be lonely. I love spending time alone, but it’s easy to get caught up in work or whatever else and never leave the house. Traveling helps force me to explore because I naturally want to check the pulse of my new surroundings.
In one sentence please explain the best thing about living a minimalist life?
I never have to worry about any of my possessions because there are so few, which allows me to think clearly and create.
Science has evolved and it’s now possible to go back in time to meet yourself as a child. What advice would you give to yourself as a 14 year old?
Cut your hair. Also drop out, get your GED, maybe go to university, but get started living life. You’re wasting your time in a school system that is teaching you how to pass multiple choice tests.
What’s next for Ridiculously Extraordinary?
Everything that’s coming up is either public or it hasn’t been announced yet. I’ll be announcing 2 new missions in March, but until then I’m writing 2-3 times/week and everything’s normal.
What do you think of The Ephemeral Project?
You’re doing fun and exciting things and I’m looking forward to what else you have in store for us.
9. Any other advice that you want to give people about breaking free of the rat race?
Don’t listen to anybody who tells you it can’t be done. They just want you to join them in not living their ideal lives. You can make things happen if you focus on making things happen.
Thanks Karol
Check out an interview I did also with Colin Wright of exile lifestyle who also left the rat race
